Samantha Vincent is a contemporary art jeweller and educator based in Durban, South Africa. She is the Programme Coordinator and Lecturer for the Jewellery Design and Manufacture programme at Durban University of Technology (DUT). Holding a Master’s in Fine Art and extensive industry experience, Samantha’s practice explores narrative jewellery, identity, and social commentary. Her beadwork reflects cultural hybridity and memory, blending traditional techniques with contemporary design. Influenced by her mother’s Delftware collection and the craft heritage of KwaZulu-Natal, her series Study in Blue adapts Shweshwe patterns to the Botsotso stitch, weaving personal narrative with cultural memory. Through material, motif, and repetition, her work embodies hybrid South African identities, exploring the intersections of heritage, memory, and self-expression. Samantha’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at Munich Jewellery Week, Thailand, and Denmark. Her research focuses on practice-based learning and decolonial methodologies, integrating education and creative practice to shape contemporary jewellery discourse.
