Ettore Sottsass

Italy 1917-2007 

Ettore Sottsass founded the Memphis Group in 1981, a collective that revolutionised contemporary furniture and interiors. The Memphis group embraced bold colours, geometric forms, decorative laminates and unconventional combinations of materials.

He designed furniture, lighting, ceramics, glass and architecture for leading manufacturers including Kartell, Alessi, Poltronova and Artemide.
