France & Søn was one of the most important manufacturers behind the international success of Danish Modern furniture in the 1950s and 1960s.

The company began as France & Daverkosen, established in Denmark by the British-born businessman Charles William France, working with the Danish cabinetmaker Eric Daverkosen. In 1957, France's son James France joined the business and the name changed to France & Søn
