Christofle

Paris, France

Christofle is a luxury French silverware and tableware company founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle. Renowned for introducing electrolytic gilding and silver plating in France in 1842, the company quickly gained fame, supplying royals such as King Louis-Philippe and Emperor Napoleon III, the latter ordering a massive 4,000-piece service in 1851. Under Charles’ leadership and that of his successors, his son Paul and nephew Henri Bouilhet, Christofle expanded with innovative techniques and new factories, becoming one of the most prominent goldsmiths of the 19th century. Known for exquisite tableware, decorative statuary, and monumental decor, Christofle’s legacy continues today as a symbol of luxury and craftsmanship.
