Lilly Friedlaender

South Africa 

Lilly Friedlaender was born in Stellenbosch, South Africa, and studied at the University of Stellenbosch, where she obtained a BA in Creative Arts (Jewellery Design) in the 1970s under the guidance of Eberhard Dechow and Dieter Dill. She subsequently worked with renowned goldsmith John Donald in London before completing a postgraduate year at the Fachhochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany, under Friedrich Becker.

Upon returning to South Africa, Friedlaender worked as a jewellery designer for a major manufacturing company in Cape Town before joining the University of Stellenbosch as a lecturer. She later established her own workshop in Church Street, Stellenbosch, where she specialises in private commissions. An active participant in exhibitions throughout her career, Friedlaender's work is held in private collections both in South Africa and internationally.
