Bois de Boursan
Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée des Félix 1999
About this Item
Domaine Bois de Boursan is a deeply traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate, founded in 1955 and run by Jean-Paul Versino, working twenty-seven parcels of old vines scattered across the appellation. Cuvée des Félix, first made in 1995, is its prestige bottling, an old-vine, Grenache-led blend given long ageing in old wood. 1999 was a very good Châteauneuf vintage. Robert M. Parker Jr. gave it a rating of 93, and Stephen Tanzer from Vinous gave it 91.

Critics Ratings
"The superb 1999 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee des Felix is a profound example of the vintage. An opaque purple color is accompanied by intense aromas of salty sea breezes intermixed with garrigue, blackberry and cherry jam, dried herbs, and Asian spices. It is exceptionally powerful as well as super-concentrated, with great purity and overall symmetry...... Wow!" - Robert M. Parker Jr., Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Dec 2001)
"Full ruby-red. Pretty, tangy aromas of spicy red fruits, minerals and sweet oak. Tightly wound and high-pitched, with very intense, fresh fruit flavors and plenty of density. The substantial, even tannins dust the teeth. Very long finish boasts lovely sweetness of fruit. Very much in the style of the best '99s." - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 91/100 (Jan 2002)
