Crozes-Hermitage 2015
About this Item
Alain Graillot, who founded his domaine in 1985 after learning his craft at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy, was one of the most revered names of the northern Rhône, the grower who did more than anyone to prove the quality potential of Crozes-Hermitage. Farmed organically on the pebbly Châssis plateau and made with whole bunches, his Syrah is all perfume and finesse; the estate is now run by his sons Maxime and Antoine. 2015 was an outstanding northern Rhône vintage. Josh Raynolds from Vinous and Joe Czerwinski from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate each gave it a rating of 92, and Julian Leidy gave it 16.5 out of 20.

Critics Ratings
"Brilliant violet. Perfumed dark berry, violet and olive aromas are complemented by licorice and smoky mineral flourishes. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering pliant black raspberry and cherry flavors and a suave violet nuance. Silky tannins build steadily on a very long, penetrating finish that strongly echoes the floral and mineral notes." - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 92/100 (Feb 2018)
"Clean, plummy and vibrant, the 2015 Crozes Hermitage is medium-bodied and crisp, with bright fruit flavors, touches of pomegranate, and a fine, velvety mouthfeel. It should drink well for at least a decade." - Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Dec 2017)
"Bretty and reductive, though it also has some of Syrah's classic notes of violet, brambly blackberry and black pepper......" - Julian Leidy, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Apr 2025)
