Bouchard Père et Fils

Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles 2002

A unique opportunity to acquire wines that define Burgundy’s legacy
About the Session

These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit. These historic bottles, among the last remaining examples from the 20th and early 21st centuries, represent some of the Domaine’s most important cuvées. Fine vintages across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune back to 1972 have been selected, checked and captured on the Bouchard database, with a dedicated neck proof tag confirming their recent release from the Bouchard cellars. Bottles from the 2009 vintage and older were also waxed in anticipation of their recent release.

About this Item

Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles 2002
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
Approved by the technical team at Bouchard Père et Fils following inspection and tasting.
The 2002 Côte de Nuits harvest is one of the finest of the early 2000s, producing wines of exceptional balance, fine aromatic complexity and genuine longevity across the appellation's most celebrated Premiers Crus in a year whose classical precision and structural depth are now consistently praised by collectors and critics alike. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2002 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles has earned 17.5 points from Jancis Robinson MW at JancisRobinson.com. Les Cailles is one of the most distinguished Premier Cru vineyards in the south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, classified as a tête de cuvée by Danguy and Aubertin as early as 1892, its oolitic limestone terroir producing wines of distinctive feminine elegance and notable depth from Bouchard Père & Fils' 1.08 hectares. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak with 40 to 50% new barrels.

Critics Ratings

“Deep crimson. Very opulent and glamorous and dramatic on the nose. Lots of primary, crisp, well-defined fruit. Very clean and lively.” - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Jan 2004)

“A very good, elegant wine, this premier cru has beautifully ripe plum fruit accented with spice. Firm tannins suggest midterm aging.” - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast (Jan 2004)
