About this Item

Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles 2007
1 (1 x 1) 1500ml
Approved by the technical team at Bouchard Père et Fils following inspection and tasting.

The 2007 Côte de Nuits harvest produced wines of fine aromatic purity, genuine elegance and classical freshness, a vintage that has held up admirably and continues to offer rewarding and engaging drinking with further development still to come. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2007 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles, offered here in magnum, has earned 16.5 points from Julia Harding MW at JancisRobinson.com. Les Cailles is one of the most distinguished Premier Cru vineyards in the south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, classified as a tête de cuvée by Danguy and Aubertin as early as 1892, its oolitic limestone terroir producing wines of distinctive feminine refinement and structured depth from Bouchard Père & Fils' 1.08 hectares. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak with 40 to 50% new barrels.

Provenance

These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit.

Critics Ratings

“Sweetly spiced, bright cherry fruit. Firm but rounded tannins. Finishes a little dry but I think it will flesh out a little more.” - Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (May 2009)

“An already complete wine, the tannins well integrated into the firm black fruits and acidity. It is foursquare but also has a richness that comes from wood as well as lively final freshness.” - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (Jan 2010)

“Leathery and otherwise animal-like aromas dominate in Bouchard's 2007 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Cailles, but surprisingly bright, tart-edged sour cherry fruit emerges along with crushed stone and herbal nuances on a firm, refreshing palate. Here is another of this 2007 collection whose slight sense of austerity is welcome inasmuch as it comes attached to such energy.” - David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Jun 2010)
