Bouchard Père et Fils

Montrachet 2022

A unique opportunity to acquire wines that define Burgundy’s legacy
About the Session

These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit. These historic bottles, among the last remaining examples from the 20th and early 21st centuries, represent some of the Domaine’s most important cuvées. Fine vintages across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune back to 1972 have been selected, checked and captured on the Bouchard database, with a dedicated neck proof tag confirming their recent release from the Bouchard cellars. Bottles from the 2009 vintage and older were also waxed in anticipation of their recent release.

About this Item

Montrachet 2022
1 (1 x 1) 750ml
The 2022 Côte de Beaune white harvest produced wines of exceptional texture, power and aromatic opulence, a vintage drawing widespread critical admiration for the kind of large-scaled, mouthfilling richness and mid-palate intensity that places the finest wines of the year in the company of the most celebrated recent white Burgundy vintages. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2022 Montrachet drew outstanding critical praise from William Kelley at Wine Advocate. Montrachet is the most celebrated white wine Grand Cru in all of Burgundy, its legendary name synonymous with the summit of white wine achievement from Chardonnay, with Bouchard Père & Fils farming 0.89 hectares of this incomparable terroir on the boundary of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, producing wines of extraordinary complexity, mineral depth and the kind of multi-decade longevity that defines white wine greatness at its absolute pinnacle. The wine is produced from 100% Chardonnay, aged in French oak.

Critics Ratings

“The 2022 Montrachet Grand Cru is striking, exhibiting even more texture and power than the benchmark 2020 vintage did at the same stage. Wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnuts, white flowers, buttery pastry and confit orange, it's full-bodied, rich and layered, with incredible mid-palate volume and intensity. Large-scaled, textural and mouthfilling, it concludes with a long, expansive finish.” - William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Jan 2024)
