Beaune Les Marconnets 1999

The 1999 Côte de Beaune harvest is widely regarded as one of the finest of its decade, producing wines of classical elegance, fine aromatic definition and genuine longevity across the appellation's most celebrated Premiers Crus in a vintage whose depth and composed maturity are now fully and pleasingly revealed. Bouchard Père & Fils' 1999 Beaune Les Marconnets has been Les Marconnets is one of the oldest Premier Cru vineyards in Beaune, its name traced to the Germanic Marcomans who settled here in the 3rd century AD, with Bouchard Père & Fils having farmed 2.32 hectares at the northernmost point of the appellation since 1791, the layers of grey, marly chalk lending this distinguished cru its hallmark character, elegance and bouquet. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak with 30 to 40% new barrels.
