Bouchard Père et Fils

Beaune-Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus 2018

A unique opportunity to acquire wines that define Burgundy’s legacy
About the Session

These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit. These historic bottles, among the last remaining examples from the 20th and early 21st centuries, represent some of the Domaine’s most important cuvées. Fine vintages across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune back to 1972 have been selected, checked and captured on the Bouchard database, with a dedicated neck proof tag confirming their recent release from the Bouchard cellars. Bottles from the 2009 vintage and older were also waxed in anticipation of their recent release.

About this Item

Beaune-Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus 2018
2 (1 x 2) 1500ml
The 2018 Côte de Beaune harvest produced wines of exceptional ripeness, fine aromatic richness and supple generous character, a vintage of warmth and broad appeal that combines early pleasure with the structure for continued rewarding development over the medium term. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2018 Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus, offered here in magnum, earned 16.5++ from Tim Jackson MW at JancisRobinson.com. The Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus is an exclusivity of Bouchard Père & Fils within the Les Grèves Premier Cru of Beaune, its name recalling the Carmelite nuns who predicted the birth of Louis XIV, with Bouchard holding the exclusive right to this celebrated 3.92-hectare parcel producing one of the most historically significant wines in the estate's portfolio. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak with 30 to 40% new barrels.

Critics Ratings

“Vanilla-cream oak notes, a touch of dried herb and dense, ripe strawberry. Full-bodied, with firm, quite fine tannins and a creamy, long finish. I'd like a little more acidity to freshen this up, but it does have plenty of intensity.” - Tim Jackson MW, JancisRobinson.com, ++16.5/20 (Jan 2020)

“A rich, creamy-textured red with ripe-strawberry, chocolate, stone and hazelnut aromas and flavors. It's full and layered with attractive fruit and lightly chewy yet polished tannins. Flavorful finish. Subtle, yet structured.” - James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com (Aug 2020)
