About this Item
The 2011 Côte de Beaune harvest produced wines of good structure and appealing aromatic character, a vintage that demanded careful selection but rewarded rigorous producers with wines of genuine definition, early accessibility and the elegant, composed Pinot Noir character that this remarkable monopole Premier Cru consistently delivers. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2011 Beaune Clos de la Mousse, offered here in magnum, earned 16.5 points from Julia Harding MW at JancisRobinson.com. Clos de la Mousse is a monopole of Bouchard Père & Fils within the appellation of Beaune, its earliest recorded trace dating to 1220 when it was bequeathed to the church of Notre-Dame de Beaune, with the entire 3.36 hectares consolidated by the Domaine in 1872. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 15 months in French oak with 30 to 50% new barrels.

Critics Ratings
“12–15 months in oak, about 30–50% new. Mid ruby. Lovely aroma of red fruit, gently floral. Greater depth in the middle than the Beaune du Château. Relatively soft but harmonious and more persistent.” - Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Feb 2013)
“Perfume partners with great acidity in this wine. The two work in harmony, resulting in a wine that has a soft texture, rich, jammy berry fruits and a backbone of tannins that will allow for aging.” - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100 (Jan 2014)
