About the SessionThese wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit. These historic bottles, among the last remaining examples from the 20th and early 21st centuries, represent some of the Domaine’s most important cuvées. Fine vintages across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune back to 1972 have been selected, checked and captured on the Bouchard database, with a dedicated neck proof tag confirming their recent release from the Bouchard cellars. Bottles from the 2009 vintage and older were also waxed in anticipation of their recent release.

The 1975 Burgundy harvest produced wines of genuine character and classical Pinot Noir definition in a vintage that rewarded careful cellar work, and these wines from the finest villages of the Côte de Nuits are now firmly and fully in the territory of historic maturity, offering the kind of evolved and nuanced complexity that only decades of patient cellaring can bestow. Bouchard Père & Fils' 1975 Chambolle-Musigny was Chambolle-Musigny is one of the most celebrated communes of the Côte de Nuits, its soils and sub-soils of ideal limestone and clay composition producing wines of remarkable finesse and elegance that have earned the village its enduring nickname as the Volnay of the Côte de Nuits, the soil generally not very deep, obliging the vine to search nourishment as far as 10 metres below the surface. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged in French oak.
