About this Item

Beaune Clos de la Mousse 2006
1 (1 x 1) 1500ml
Approved by the technical team at Bouchard Père et Fils following inspection and tasting.

The 2006 Côte de Beaune harvest produced wines of classical structure, fine aromatic definition and genuine cellaring capacity, a vintage increasingly regarded as one of the more elegant and composed efforts of the decade for the finest Beaune Premiers Crus. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2006 Beaune Clos de la Mousse, offered here in magnum, is a monopole of Bouchard Père & Fils within the appellation of Beaune, its earliest recorded trace dating to 1220 when it was bequeathed to the church of Notre-Dame de Beaune, with the entire 3.36 hectares consolidated by the Domaine in 1872 to produce one of Beaune's most characterful and historically resonant Premier Cru wines. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak with 30 to 40% new barrels.

Provenance

These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit.

Critics Ratings

“From their monopole south of Teurons, Bouchard's 2006 Beaune Clos de la Mousse displays herbal, bitter-sweet floral, and fungal aromas; comes to the palate with considerable subtlety and diversity of flavor as well as textural refinement; and offers a persistent, complex sense of interplay between chalky, herbal, floral, black fruit, fungal, and forest floor elements.” - David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Dec 2009)
