About the SessionThese wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit. These historic bottles, among the last remaining examples from the 20th and early 21st centuries, represent some of the Domaine’s most important cuvées. Fine vintages across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune back to 1972 have been selected, checked and captured on the Bouchard database, with a dedicated neck proof tag confirming their recent release from the Bouchard cellars. Bottles from the 2009 vintage and older were also waxed in anticipation of their recent release.

The 1975 Burgundy harvest produced wines of genuine classical character and depth in a vintage that rewarded careful work in the cellar, and these wines from the finest Premiers Crus of the Côte de Nuits have evolved over five decades into something of historic interest and evolved, nuanced complexity that speaks eloquently of the virtue of patient conservation. Bouchard Père & Fils' 1975 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru was Morey-Saint-Denis is one of the most characterful communes of the Côte de Nuits, its varied limestone and clay soils producing wines that occupy a distinguished middle ground between the delicate refinement of Chambolle-Musigny to the north and the more powerful, structured character of the Gevrey-Chambertin Grands Crus to the south, with a concentration and depth that rewards patient cellaring. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged in French oak.
