About this Item
Beaune Clos Saint-Landry 2017
3 (1 x 3) 750ml
The 2017 Côte de Beaune white harvest was defined by severely reduced yields following spring frosts, yet the small quantities that achieved full ripeness produced wines of exceptional concentration, aromatic richness and structural depth, with the finest white Premiers Crus delivering quality of genuine distinction that has drawn consistent critical admiration. Beaune Clos Saint-Landry is an exclusively white Premier Cru monopole of Bouchard Père & Fils within the appellation of Beaune, hosting the oldest traces of the Chardonnay variety in the entire côte, previously known as Tiélandry before becoming the property of the abbey of Maizières and subsequently purchased by Antoine Philibert Joseph Bouchard in 1791, with the estate holding the monopoly of this remarkable 1.98-hectare Premier Cru ever since. The wine is produced from 100% Chardonnay, aged 9 to 10 months in French oak with up to 15% new barrels.
Provenance
These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit.
Critics Ratings
“This has a wealth of peach and gently nutty notes with a smooth array of fresh bread and hazelnut biscuits on the palate. Good freshness here with yellow peach to close.” - James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com (Jan 2019)
