The 2017 Côte de Beaune harvest was defined by the dramatic spring frosts that severely reduced yields across the finest Premiers Crus of the appellation, yet the small quantities that achieved full ripeness produced wines of exceptional concentration and aromatic depth that have drawn consistent critical praise. Beaune Les Teurons is one of the most consistently acclaimed Premier Cru vineyards of Beaune, its limestone and clay soils situated at the heart of the appellation producing wines of distinctive aromatic character, fine structure and the kind of depth and concentration that have established it as one of the benchmark red Premiers Crus of the Côte de Beaune. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged in French oak with 25% new barrels.

Provenance

These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit.

Critics Ratings

“The 2017 Beaune Les Teurons 1er Cru comes from the domaine's 2.31-hectare block. It has a slightly pinched bouquet of blackberry and raspberry fruit, perhaps not as charming as the Clos de la Mousse at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well-judged acidity and nicely integrated oak (25% new), and quite fresh with a touch of cassis on the aftertaste. I suspect that this will turn into a very fine Les Teurons, but the aromatics need time.” - Neal Martin, Vinous (Oct 2018)
