About this Item
The 1975 Burgundy harvest produced wines of genuine classical character and depth in a vintage that rewarded careful work in the cellar, and the wines from the finest Grands Crus of the Côte de Nuits that have been properly conserved now present the kind of historic, fully evolved complexity that only the passage of more than five decades can impart. Bouchard Père & Fils' 1975 Clos Vougeot is one of Burgundy's most historic Grands Crus, established by Cistercian monks in the 12th century and farmed by the same brotherhood for seven centuries until the Revolution, its varied soils producing wines of both velvety, finessed character and more structured depth depending on position within this celebrated clos. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged in French oak.
Provenance
These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit.
Critics Ratings
“Complex bouquet of red and black berries with spicy and slightly oaky notes. Dazzling elegance on the palate, with a perfect blend of finesse and raciness. Very good ageing potential.” - Bouchard Père & Fils, producer tasting notes, 1975 vintage
