About this Item
Georgian style mahogany and inlaid cabinet, 19th century
the rectangular top above a long frieze drawer and three small drawers alongside a cupboard door inlaid with a classical urn motif enclosing a single shelf, panelled sides, raised on square-section tapering legs, stringing and marquetry veneer throughout
height: 105cm; width: 99cm; depth: 52,5cm
Notes
This type of hybrid cabinet, combining drawers and a cupboard was popular in the late 19th century and early 20th centuries in England. The mahogany veneer, satinwood crossbanding and stringing reflects the influence of Sheraton and Hepplewhite design which was revived during the Edwardian period.
