About this Item
Domaine Huet is the most storied estate in Vouvray, founded in 1928 and raised to legend by Gaston Huet, the winemaker-mayor who defended the appellation for more than half a century. Farmed biodynamically since 1990, it draws Chenin Blanc of extraordinary purity and longevity from three great parcels, in styles that run from bone-dry (sec) through off-dry (demi-sec) to lusciously sweet (moelleux). Le Mont, on flinty clay over limestone, is the source of Huet's tautest, most long-lived and mineral wines. This is a sweet moelleux from 2002, now maturing towards a drier, savoury profile. James Lawther MW gave it 16.5 out of 20, and Antonio Galloni from Vinous gave it a rating of 90.
Provenance
The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

Critics Ratings
"Pale gold. Evolved nose with a note of truffle. Palate drier and less marked by the residual sugar. After the 2018 seems more like a demi-sec........" - James Lawther MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5/20 (Mar 2023)
"The 2002 Moelleux Le Mont is laced with the essence of apricot, crushed autumn leaves, honey, minerals and earthiness. Despite its intense color, the 2002 is now a pretty delicate wine.........." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 90/100 (Sep 2020)
