Le Haut-Lieu Sec 2010
About this Item
Domaine Huet is the most storied estate in Vouvray, founded in 1928 and raised to legend by Gaston Huet, the winemaker-mayor who defended the appellation for more than half a century. Farmed biodynamically since 1990, it draws Chenin Blanc of extraordinary purity and longevity from three great parcels, in styles that run from bone-dry (sec) through off-dry (demi-sec) to lusciously sweet (moelleux). Le Haut-Lieu, Huet's original vineyard on deeper clay over limestone, gives the roundest, most approachable wines. This is a dry sec from the classic 2010 vintage. James Molesworth from Wine Spectator gave it a rating of 92, and Jancis Robinson gave it 16+ out of 20.
Provenance
The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

Critics Ratings
"Superracy, floral and pure, with enticing ginger, quince and mineral flavors that ripple through the filigreed finish. Lovely orange blossom and honeysuckle notes fill in the background. Dry, but still generous, with impressive length." - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 92/100 (Dec 2011)
"Deeper flavoured than the Chenin des Rouillères 2011. With more honey and more wet wool. Lots to get your teeth into but awfully young for the moment." - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 16+/20 (Apr 2012)
