About this Item

Straw Wine 2009
6 (1 x 6) 375ml
Rustenberg is one of South Africa's most historic estates, on the Simonsberg foothills of Stellenbosch and owned by the Barlow family. Its Straw Wine is a rich dessert wine made from air-dried Chenin Blanc. 2009 was an outstanding Cape vintage. Neal Martin reviewed it for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

Critics Ratings

"A blend of 76% Chenin Blanc and 24% Crouchen Blanc matured in French oak for 8 months, the 2009 Straw Wine has a ripe honeyed, mango-scented bouquet with a slightly distracting, almost Brie-like aroma. The palate is well balanced with a viscous entry, very pure and focused although it needs a little more acidity and tension towards the creamy finish." - Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Aug 2011)
