About this Item

Macon Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette 2015
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon is the Mâconnais estate founded in 1999 by Dominique Lafon of the celebrated Domaine des Comtes Lafon, farmed biodynamically and credited with helping revive the region. Clos de la Crochette, in the village of Chardonnay itself, is one of the oldest Chardonnay sites in Burgundy. 2015 was a warm, ripe Mâconnais vintage giving rich, generous whites that kept good acidity. Bruce Sanderson from Wine Spectator gave it a rating of 91, Stephen Tanzer from Vinous gave it a rating of 90, and Jancis Robinson MW gave it 16 out of 20.

Provenance

The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

For more detailed information on the lots, please feel free to contact Roland Peens (roland@briceandburnett.co.za). Roland spent many years sharing and enjoying these wines with David Brice and is happy to provide further insight into the collection.

Critics Ratings

"A ripe version, exuding pear, peach, butterscotch and spice flavors. Broad and powerful, ending with mouthwatering acidity. Opulent and long." - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Jul 2017)

"Pale, bright yellow. Orange zest and brown spices on the perfumed nose. A silky, dense fruit bomb with a light touch. Wonderfully lively stone fruit and spice flavors carry through a dry, long finish. This wine has a totally different grain from the other 2015s at this address: slightly dusty and phenolic but not at all bitter. Lovely Chardonnay." - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 90/100 (Sep 2016)

"Combination of quite simple fruit and stoniness. Quite attractive. Bitter note on the end." - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Jan 2017)
