About this Item

Meursault Premier Cru 2011
2 (1 x 2) 750ml
Approved by the technical team at Bouchard Père et Fils following inspection and tasting.

The 2011 Côte de Beaune white harvest produced wines of good structure and fine aromatic definition, a vintage that demanded careful selection and rigorous work in the cellar but rewarded careful producers with wines of genuine mineral character, classical freshness and the kind of measured aromatic complexity that rewards continued patience. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2011 Meursault Premier Cru, drawn from different Premiers Crus climats to gather in beautiful harmony the principal facets of the appellation, Since the Cistercian era, this mythical terroir has been producing exceptional white wines of great diversity across its numerous Premier Cru appellations, which offer an incomparable variety of aromas, flavours and textures, with Bouchard gathering together in beautiful harmony the principal facets that create the charm of the appellation: richness, finesse and its legendary silkiness. The wine is produced from 100% Chardonnay, aged 14 to 16 months in French oak with up to 20% new barrels.

Provenance

These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit.

Critics Ratings

“Very focused and lifted and pure. Super-juicy but not as immediately obvious as a Perrières thanks to its acidity. Winemaker Frédéric Weber cites saltiness. Actually this, for once, could be described as lightly buttery.” - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, +17.5/20 (Jul 2021)

“At this stage, this wine is closed, tight and mineral in character. As befits a great Perrières, it will be a serious, structured wine, textured and full of nervy, steely feeling, softening later into mature spice and toast.” - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 94/100

"Very aromatic nose, with fruit and floral notes. Just as perfumed on the palate, this wine expresses its richness and fullness without the slightest heaviness. Good ageing potential." - Bouchard Pere & Fils
