About this Item
The 1999 Côte de Beaune harvest is widely regarded as one of the finest of its decade, producing wines of classical elegance, fine aromatic definition and genuine longevity across the appellation's most celebrated Premiers Crus in a vintage whose depth and maturity are now fully and pleasingly revealed. Les Lavières is the most celebrated Premier Cru vineyard of Savigny-lès-Beaune, its stony, well-drained limestone soils producing wines of genuine character, fine aromatic complexity and the kind of structural precision that has earned this relatively modest appellation a reputation for exceptional quality among the most discerning collectors of red Burgundy. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak with 30 to 40% new barrels.
Provenance
These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit.
Critics Ratings
“Delicate bouquet with berry fruit notes. On the palate, seductive with the subtle intensity of its aromas and for its tenderness. Good ageing potential.” - Bouchard Père & Fils, producer tasting notes, 1999 vintage
