Notes
A group of three Chinese blue and white ginger jars, early 19th century, each decorated with continuous river landscapes featuring pavilions, rocky mountains, stylised trees and water motifs. Subtle variations in tone and brushwork reflect hand-painted manufacture and give the group visual cohesion with individual character. In traditional Chinese symbolism, landscape scenes convey harmony and stability, while waterside pavilions suggest peace and refuge, and mountains symbolise longevity.
