About this Item
A pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain plates, Kangxi period, 1662-1722

Notes
Decorated in the centre with a star-shaped medallion of floral sprays, surrounded by scrolling foliage. The rim is encircled by an interlaced border incorporating stylised flowers and Buddhist emblems. Such symbolic motifs were commonly associated with blessings, harmony, and auspicious protection. Plates of this type were often produced for both domestic use and export during the Kangxi period, reflecting the high level of technical skill in underglaze blue decoration.
