A Chinese famille verte porcelain saucer dish, Kangxi period, 1662-1722

Notes
Decorated in famille verte enamels with four shaped panels of fishes and aquatic plants, set against a yellow ground with scrolling peonies and a phoenix in flight. Fish symbolise abundance and prosperity, while the phoenix represents harmony and imperial virtues. Peonies are associated with wealth and rank. The bold panelled design and vivid palette are characteristic of Kangxi famille verte wares.
