About this Item
A pair of Chinese blue and white porcelain saucer dishes, Kangxi period, 1662-1722
Notes
Decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with scenes of court ladies on a terrace beside architectural elements and stylised rockwork. Similar figural subjects are typical of Kangxi-period blue and white wares. Geometric diaper borders with reserved floral cartouches are characteristic of the period. The repeated decoration indicates the dishes were made as a pair.
Provenance
Private Collection.
