About this Item
A pair of blue and white porcelain vases, Kangxi period, 1662-1722
Provenance
British Antique Dealers' Association.
Private Collection.
Notes
Decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with birds among flowering branches and rockwork, the vases feature continuous garden scenes painted in a fluid, expressive manner. The creamy white ground, varied cobalt tones and softly blurred outlines are characteristic of blue-and-white export porcelain, while a simple border at the neck frames the baluster form.
