A Chinese porcelain vase on wooden stand, Kangxi period, 1662-1722
Notes
A baluster vase finely painted in underglaze blue with a continuous mountainous river landscape, depicting pavilions, figures, trees and rocky outcrops waterfalls in varying tones of cobalt. The shoulder and neck of the vase are bordered with the characteristic Kangxi "lightning and thunder" pattern (leiwen), above a band of ruyi-heads and a Greek -key border beneath the rim. The glaze has a soft bluish tone, typical of the period.
