Notes
Gautier & Albinet were Paris-based clockmakers and retailers active in the second half of the 19th century.
The style of the clock shows a strong Neo-classical influence inspired by classical antiquity. The gilt-metal and onyx reflect the fashionable taste of the 'Belle Epoque', where such clocks served as both functional and sculptural ornaments.
