Notes
The Louis XVI style, which emerged in France during the reign of King Louis XVI (1774-1792), marked a return to classical antiquity, drawing inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman forms.
Gilded wood or gesso was a popular material for frames, providing a luxurious and elegant finish.
