About this Item
A Chinese blue and white beaker vase, 19th century
decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with figures in a continuous landscape, the rim with a band of lattice and foliage panels
height: 25,5cm; diameter: 9,5cm
Notes
The figural decoration reflects literati themes, depicting scholars and attendants in narrative scenes. Vessels of this type draw on the aesthetic associated with the Kangxi period (1662–1722), particularly in their use of underglaze blue and continuous figural compositions.
