A Chinese blue and white vase and cover, 19th century
Of baluster form with a domed cover surmounted by a lion finial, decorated in underglaze blue with figural scenes of scholars and attendants, the shoulder with diaper and panelled borders, the neck with floral motifs, the cover similarly decorated.
Height: 27cm; diameter: 11cm
Notes
The figural decoration reflects literati themes, depicting scholars and attendants engaged in various pursuits. The Kangxi mark is apocryphal, typical of 19th century wares produced in homage to the Kangxi period, 1662-1722.
