About this Item
A Chinese blue and white pierced dish, Qianlong period, 1735-1796
of shallow circular form, the base pierced with numerous small drainage holes, decorated in underglaze blue with a central figural garden scene, the cavetto with stylised borders, the exterior with floral sprays
height: 5,5cm; diameter: 22cm
Notes
Pierced dishes of this type were commonly used as rinsers or strainers, allowing liquid to drain through the perforated base. The decoration reflects typical 18th century export taste, combining figural and floral elements within a structured composition.
