A Japanese horn and gilt-lacquered kushi comb, Meiji period, 1868-1912
carved and translucent to the top section with a rooster, hen and three birds amongst peonies and foliage, with further gilt-lacquered raised peonies and foliage, 10,4cm wide; a Japanese wood and gilt-lacquered kushi comb, Meiji period, 1868-1912, decorated in high relief with a hannya noh mask with gilt and red eyes and baton to one side, and the reverse with a spray of blossoms, 11,9cm wide; and another, moulded in high relief foliage and buds to either side, minor loss to one corner,12,1cm wide
