A Japanese black lacquer and mother-of-pearl Nanban box, 1700s
the cylindrical body inlaid with a Javanese woman in a landscape with figures before a forest, a dwelling and farm animals in the distance, with inscription Eene Javaansche vrouns below, the cover and base inlaid with flowerheads, loss to the mother-of-pearl inlay, minor chips, 14,1cm high
