About this Item
A Japanese Imperial Satsuma koro, Meiji period, 1868-1912
the body finely enamelled with two shaped cartouches, one enclosing a peacock in full display amongst flowerheads and foliage, the other a shi shi with a ball and ribbon, enclosed by brocaded panels and diaper bands, the shoulders enamelled with a flowerhead band against a white ground, the neck enamelled with butterflies, the sides applied with dragon handles, raised on three outswept feet headed by taotie masks, double impressed faint seal mark, lacking cover, minor hairline crack, 18cm high
