Saint-Joseph 2001
About this Item
E. Guigal, based at Ampuis in the northern Rhône, is one of the region's most famous houses, renowned above all for its single-vineyard Côte-Rôties. This is its Saint-Joseph, a peppery, granite-grown Syrah. 2001 was a good northern Rhône vintage. Stephen Tanzer reviewed it for Vinous.

Critics Ratings
"Medium ruby. Sappy, brooding, granitic aromas of gunflint, black pepper, minerals, leather and smoked meat. Quite dry but richer and suppler than the 2001 Crozes, with more density and complexity. Penetrating flavors of black pepper and flint....." - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous (Jan 2005)
