Sassicaia, from Tenuta San Guido on the Tuscan coast at Bolgheri, is the original Super Tuscan, created by Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. So singular that it was granted its own appellation, Bolgheri Sassicaia, it is one of the world's great wines. 2018 was a classic Bolgheri vintage, marking the estate's fiftieth vintage. Monica Larner from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave it a rating of 97+, Antonio Galloni from Vinous gave it 97, Bruce Sanderson from Wine Spectator gave it 96, and Walter Speller gave it 17++ out of 20.
