About this Item

Sauternes 2004
12 (1 x 12) 375ml
Château d'Yquem is the most famous sweet-wine estate in the world, a Premier Cru Supérieur of Sauternes producing an intensely rich, botrytised Sémillon-and-Sauvignon wine of legendary longevity. 2004 was a fine Sauternes vintage. Jancis Robinson gave it 16+ out of 20, and Neal Martin from Vinous gave it a rating of 93.

Critics Ratings

"Rich and tense and bottomed out. Thick and dense." - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 16+/20 (Mar 2014)

"The 2004 Yquem is almost identical to the bottle that I tasted at the château four years ago. It has a generous bouquet; the oak a tad more subsumed since my last encounter, with generous lemon curd, dried honey, mango and Mirabelle aromas billowing from the glass. It is a well balanced and quite weighty Yquem with slightly lower acidity than its peers; viscous in texture with a tropical tinged finish that I maintain just lacks the tension and energy of a Yquem from the top-drawer." - Neal Martin, Vinous, 93/100 (Aug 2018)
