About this Item

Barsac 2011
12 (1 x 12) 750ml
Château Climens is the leading estate of Barsac, a First Growth of Sauternes making one of the region's most refined botrytised sweet wines from pure Sémillon. 2011 was an excellent Sauternes vintage of concentrated, well-balanced sweet wines. Jancis Robinson gave it 17 out of 20, James Molesworth from Wine Spectator gave it a rating of 97, Neal Martin from Vinous gave it a rating of 94, and Lisa Perrotti-Brown from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave it a rating of 93.

Critics Ratings

"Tasted blind. Not flashy but with masses of both sweetness and acidity that are not yet married. Quite heavyweight." - Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Oct 2021)

"Still tight, with an energetic core of white peach, creamed pineapple, persimmon and white ginger flavors. The backdrop of orange blossom and singed almond notes adds extra dimension on the finish. This will go a long way in the cellar." - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 97/100 (Mar 2014)

"The 2011 Climens has a fresh, lifted, mineral-driven bouquet which has closed down a little. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh. A lively, tensile finish, with hints of stem ginger that linger on the aftertaste. This is drinking beautifully. Tasted at the Climens vertical at the château in April 2022." - Neal Martin, Vinous, 94/100 (Apr 2022)

"Pale lemon-gold in color, the 2011 Climens opens with stuck flint and earthy notions over a core of tropical fruit, pineapple and guava, plus wafts of fungi and fresh straw. The palate lends oodles of complex layers with plenty of botrytis-inspired complexity melding with the ripe tropical notes, finishing with great length." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 93/100 (Aug 2018)
