Meix-Foulot

Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Château de Montaigu 2018

Burgundy International - Red
About the Session

Session 3 is devoted to red Burgundy, drawing together some of the finest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Grower estates such as Armand Rousseau, Denis Mortet, Denis Bachelet, Georges Lignier and Ghislaine Barthod anchor a run of grand and premier cru Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis and Vosne-Romanée, while a extraordinary group of lots from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, including Échézeaux, Grands Échézeaux, Richebourg, La Tâche and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, forms the session's centrepiece. Rounded out by classic bottlings from Volnay, Pommard and Nuits-Saint-Georges, plus a scattering of Beaujolais crus, this session offers exceptional depth for Pinot Noir collectors.

About this Item

Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Château de Montaigu 2018
3 (1 x 3) 750ml
Domaine du Meix-Foulot, in the de Launay family for over two centuries and run by Agnès de Launay, is a respected Mercurey estate. The Clos du Château de Montaigu is its walled monopole beneath the ruined Château de Montaigu, the most elegant of its reds. 2018 was a warm, ripe and generous vintage of plush reds. Richard Hemming MW from JancisRobinson.com gave it 16.5+ out of 20.

Critics Ratings

"Cinnamon and clove spice suggests well-handled new oak, but the fruit suffices to give juiciness and flesh to the palate." - Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16.5+/20 (Jan 2020)
