Provenance
The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. Critics Ratings
Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Pora 2014
“Round and supple, exuding cherry, berry, licorice, eucalyptus and tar flavors. Harmonious and well-built, with a long aftertaste of menthol.” - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 93/100 (Oct 2019)
“The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Pora is a dark, sensual beauty. Deeply spiced and balsamic, with tremendous textural richness, the Pora is utterly beguiling. I can't remember a Pora with this much depth, textural resonance and brooding intensity. The 2014 needs at least a few years to be at its best, but it is superb even in the early going. I won't be surprised if the 2014 turns out to be better than this note suggests.” - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 94/100 (Aug 2018)
Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Rabajà 2014
“A shade deeper and a little more developed than the Muncagota Riserva. Deep nose of strawberry and iron with a cool edge in spite of its concentration. Minerally raspberry fruit with a linear core of acidity and more than a hint of iron. Firm layer of coating tannins while the linear, perfumed raspberry fruit is elegant as well as concentrated. Gorgeous vibrant finish.” - Walter Speller, JancisRobinson.com, 18/20 (Jun 2019)
“This red is opulent and lushly textured, providing a backdrop for pure cherry, black currant, floral and graphite flavors. There's a firm grip and plenty of energy here, building to the long, mineral-tinged finish.” - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 95/100 (Oct 2019)
“The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà shows excellent textural richness with dark fruit, followed by notes of tobacco and tilled earth. Black truffle and dried fruit converge on the bouquet to add to the intensity. You really appreciate the freshness and sheer power of this succulent, well-structured and medium to full-bodied Barbaresco. This one's the real deal.” - Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 96/100 (Jun 2019)
Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Rio Sorda 2014
“This red combines a rich, fleshy texture that verges on chewy with a firm structure and cherry, menthol, licorice, spice and mineral flavors. Dense, revealing tension and dusty tannins on the long finish. Shows terrific energy.” - Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, 94/100 (Oct 2019)
“The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo represents a jump forward in structure compared to the other three vineyards (Pora, Pajè and Ovello) that were tasted before this wine. The Riserva Rio Sordo shows a dark and solid personality, with a tight core of black fruit that will relax and unwind with more bottle aging in the cellar. It is also slightly sharper and more focused in terms of mouthfeel, with the kind of tannic tightness you always get with young Nebbiolo in the cooler vintages such as 2014. Barbaresco lovers should jot this one down.” - Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, 96/100 (Jun 2019)
“The 2014 Barbaresco Riserva Rio Sordo is the most open-knit and easygoing of these Riservas. Creamy and giving, the Rio Sordo is one of the more available of the Riservas in the early going, an impression that is reinforced by its mid-weight structure. Perfumed floral notes add lift to the dark, red-toned fruit.” - Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 93/100 (Aug 2018)
