Bouchard Père et Fils

Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 2011

A unique opportunity to acquire wines that define Burgundy’s legacy
About the Session

These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit. These historic bottles, among the last remaining examples from the 20th and early 21st centuries, represent some of the Domaine’s most important cuvées. Fine vintages across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune back to 1972 have been selected, checked and captured on the Bouchard database, with a dedicated neck proof tag confirming their recent release from the Bouchard cellars. Bottles from the 2009 vintage and older were also waxed in anticipation of their recent release.

About this Item

Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 2011
2 (1 x 2) 750ml
Approved by the technical team at Bouchard Père et Fils following inspection and tasting.
The 2011 Côte de Nuits harvest produced wines of good structure and fine aromatic definition, a vintage that demanded rigorous selection but rewarded careful producers with wines of genuine character and classical appeal that will continue to develop over the medium and long term. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2011 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze earned 92 points from Neal Martin at Wine Advocate. Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is one of the supreme Grands Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin, founded by the monks of the Abbey of Bèze in the 7th century and the only Grand Cru in Burgundy permitted to append the name Chambertin to its own, its ancient limestone and clay soils producing wines of exceptional aromatic complexity and multi-decade cellaring potential. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak with 40 to 50% new barrels.

Critics Ratings

“The Chambertin Clos de Bèze 2011 from Bouchard seems more introspective on the nose: cranberry, wild strawberry, a hint of tomato vine and woodland aromas. It takes some coaxing from the glass, eventually offering hints of Seville orange. The palate is full-bodied and dense. There is a lot of fruit intensity here with bold tannins and good depth, but unlike the Clos-de-Bèze from Rousseau it does not own the same level of precision and comes across a little aggressive by comparison. Still, time mellows us all.” - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (Nov 2014)
