About this Item
The 2004 Côte de Nuits harvest produced wines of fine classical structure and honest aromatic definition, a vintage of traditional Burgundy character and genuine keeping potential that has held up well and continues to offer rewarding drinking for those with patience and remaining bottles. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2004 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers is one of the most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin, situated on the upper slopes of the village directly below the Grands Crus, its well-drained limestone soils producing wines of considerable structure, aromatic complexity and notable ageing capacity. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak with 40 to 50% new barrels.
Provenance
These wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit.
Critics Ratings
“Deep, intense and rich fruit is the hallmark of this powerful wine. Dark tannins lie under the concentrated juicy black fruits, which have a strong streak of acidity. This is a finely structured wine, offering great enjoyment now.” - Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 91/100 (Jan 2007)
