About this Item
Pomerol 1995
3 (1 x 3) 750ml
The 1995 Pomerol harvest produced wines of genuine concentration and velvety character, with the Right Bank delivering a vintage of real depth and early accessible charm. Château Mazeyres’s 1995 was praised by Wine Spectator for its green olive and berry character with medium body, velvety tannins and a rich, traditional style. Mazeyres is one of Pomerol’s most historically rooted estates, its origins tied to a Gallo-Roman villa and a sixteenth century convent whose buildings were repurposed as the estate’s first winery. The estate was acquired in 1988 by the Caisse de Retraite de la Société Générale and since 1992 has been managed by Alain Moueix, a fourth generation Libourne winegrower and oenologist whose gentle, precision-focused approach produces wines of velvety texture and classical finesse rather than brute extraction. The vineyard was certified biodynamic in 2018 and acquired by the Guillard family in 2020, with Alain Moueix continuing as manager. The blend is 73% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.
