About this Item
Saint-Émilion 2002
1 (1 x 1) 750ml
The 2002 Saint-Émilion vintage produced wines of medium body and restrained character, rescued by a warm September after a difficult summer, with the finest estates delivering wines of genuine charm and early-drinking appeal. Château Laforge is a distinguished estate in the Saint-Émilion appellation, created by Jonathan Maltus, the British entrepreneur and winemaker who arrived in the region in 1996 and built one of Bordeaux’s most ambitious garage wine projects from scratch. Maltus, who also created the celebrated micro-cuvées Le Dôme and Teyssier, assembled Laforge from a series of parcels on the plateau and slopes of Saint-Émilion, farming with exceptional precision and low yields to produce wines of concentration and elegance well beyond what the grand cru appellation might typically suggest. The blend is Merlot dominant with Cabernet Franc, aged in French oak.
